Weekend Thoughts: Coffee and Outings

©️Chitrangadasharan

It’s not that we can’t have coffee at home. But nowadays, you would find most people having coffee at some reputed coffee joints, such as Star bucks, Cafe Coffee Day and many more.

I am not so young, but even I like to spend some time, especially weekends at coffee joints, with my family and friends.

You may call it as breaking the monotony, hangout with your loved ones, some stress free time or just as an emotional support beverage.

So, coffee with family and friends at a coffee joint is like happy time for me.

And as they say, A lot can happen over coffee.

(Suits well for relationship goals.)

Weekend Special: Fish And Rice

Fish Curry and Rice Pulav ©️Chitrangadasharan

Weekend food has to be special, since the whole family is relaxed and want to enjoy good home cooked food.

River fish Rohu is my family’s preferred choice and rice goes well with it.

Rohu tastes good in mustard curry or even just fried. Well, I usually serve some fried fish pieces as starters and then the main course is fish gravy with rice.

Rice could be boiled or lightly fried with whole garam masala.

Food, especially good food is important to bring the family together.

My Thoughts : Precious Memories

The passing away of Shri Ameen Sayani, the much admired pioneer voice in Radio announcement, and Shri Pankaj Udhas, the melodious ghazal singer has left people of my generation very sad.

This also reaffirms the mortality of human beings and the need to make a mark, as long as we are here. So that, one is always remembered fondly, even when we are gone.

Binaca Geetmala, presented by Ameen Sayani was a must listen to program, in our childhood days. In those days, the family used to sit together, around the radio (we had a big one), to listen to their favourite program.

Such beautiful childhood memories ❤️

“Chithi aayi hai—-“ by Pankaj Udhas brought tears to everyone’s eyes, while “Chandi jaisa rang hai tera—“ filled the young lovers with romance.

I remember, exchanging cassettes with family and friends to listen to the unforgettable songs.

Jagjit Singh, Chitra Singh, Pankaj Udhas, Bhupendra and many other gazal singers made our younger days so melodious with their soulful ghazals.

I wish for the revival of gazal singing in India, but——.

But, I am happy that we can still listen to the heartfelt lyrics and golden voices of these musical legends of India.

Thank you for the memorable melodies and beautiful memories of childhood and younger days. 🙏🙏🙏
